How To Find Books In Collections
Check the hard copy media list in the library.
Using An Online Database
You can look for a book in three ways:
By AUTHOR
By CATEGORY—You can also look for a particular topic in this listing. See Step 4 below.
By TITLE
1. Open the tab that you’re interested in: Author, Category, or Title
2. Go to the column in the data base with that heading: Author, Category, or Title
3. The column is sorted from A to Z.
NOTE: In the Title column, titles with numbers in them come first in the list, but the numbers are not in the usual order. Everything beginning with a “1” for example are all sorted first: 1, 10, 100, 101, 150, etc. Next come everything beginning with a “2”: 2, 29, 207, 234, etc. And so on…
4. Under “CATEGORY” if you are looking for a particular topic
In the Category column, the categories are alphabetized. Find the “TOPICAL STUDIES” category near the end of the list.
TOPICAL STUDIES is abbreviated as “TOPIC.”
Find the column entitled “TOPIC/Copies.” This column lists the topic associated with the corresponding book in the TITLE column.
